Ioana Salajanu, 42, is a mother and community leader seeking to become the first Romanian-American judge in the State of Illinois, running for Cook County Circuit Judge. Ioana was born in Oradea, Romania and immigrated to the United States in 1983. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science in 1996 and earned Dean’s List honors. In 2000, she obtained her J.D. degree in law from the Loyola University School of Law, where she served on the International Law Review. Ioana is currently admitted to the Illinois Bar and to the United States District Court for the District of Columbia Bar and practices in federal and state courts. She currently is a partner practicing litigation at the Chicago law firm of Rock, Fusco & Connelly. She is also a member of the Chicago Bar Association, ISBA and Women’s Bar Association. In her spare time, Ioana engages in charitable activities benefiting children, among others.
